Hi and welcome to 'Seventy Three Recalibrated', the Vintage Piano Expansion / K2700 version !
'73 Recalibrated' is a new product for the Kurzweil K2700 containing about 26 Mb of samples coming from a Rhodes MK1 piano.
It has been carefully sampled using high end audio equipment at different velocity to keep the resulting sound as close as possible to the original instrument.
If you want some alternate Rhodes sounds for your K2700, '73 Recalibrated' is the way to go...
Note a bout the K2700 version :
'73' was a soundset originally designed for the Kurzweil Forte and because the K2700 has more on board controllers, i thought it would be interesting to add some new parameters. The users can now adjust many parameters that were not implemented in the Forte version, making this version much more interesting to play with.
For example you can now adjust on the fly (and save to make your own programs) the compressor threshold, the drive amount and adjust also all the FX chain with dedicated controls. The tremolo is now fully programmable with control for shape, level, speed and mono / stereo output.
You have more control options for all the mechanic noises like tines, hammers, release pedal, etc...
I also added a 'Key Dynamic' option that allows the musician to adjust the keyboard dynamic range.
At zero setting the keyboard acts normally with a full velocity control, you can control the volume.
At full position, the keyboard no longer controls the volume of the sounds and only layers switching still work.
One word : Try !
More presets were also added.
Check the new Virtual Rack for more info about the new controls :

Additionnal informations :
The source instrument :
As said previously the source was a 1976 Rhodes MK1.
This piano was used by the keyboardist of a french artist back in the 80's.
He was later restored by a company named 'One More Tine - Rhodes restoring'
This instrument is now belonging to a member of our team Coyote14.

The recording :
The sound of the Rhodes was sent to a Class-A Audient MiCO Micro Pre-Amp.
The output of the pre-amp was set to AES/EBU and sent directly into the RME UFX.
We recorded 3 notes by octave across all the keyboard at 4 different strikes level (soft, med-, med+, hard, with alternate versions)

The programming :
All the samples were cut and cleaned and i decided to keep the natural decay of the sound.
The sampling frequency was adjusted to optimize the size of the samples without reducing the tone quality.
With samples mangling and building alternate keymaps the VAST synthesis allows me to make a lot more than the 4 original strikes so some of the presets have up to 14 layers of different velocity level !
And you can add the hammers, tines and pedal noises...
Working on a real Rhodes was a great experience (as well as just playing on it !)
I hope you will have fun using '73 Recalibrated' on your K2700...
As usual, if you like this product, spread the word, not the file !
Thanks a lot !
