Welcome to 'Backlash' for your Oberheim OB-X8 !
When the OB-X8 was announced by Oberheim back in 2022, i couldn't believe it and thought that, with the Sequential Prophet 10 Rev 4, these were dream synths. So no need to tell you that programming a set on it was very refreshing and entertaining ! You will find in this set some very different textures and i wanted to take an alternate way of programming by relying on the advantages of the OB-X, OBXa and OB-8 in one machine rather than trying to emulate the classic 'Obie' vintage sound. I hope you will enjoy this set... Update ! I added in october 2023 a refill pack including 24 new programs, 24 new doubles and a bunch of samples recorded from the OB-X8 loaded with Backlash soundset ! Please note that a few doubles are pointing to some original Backlash soundset programs and mix them with some new programs. The whole pack has now 80 programs, 48 doubles and 80 samples, recorded in .wav at 24 bits / 48 Khz. I hope you will have fun using this product ! Thanks ! |
Installation and informations
You will need a software that allows to send sysex in your instrument.
I used MIDI-OX to export the sounds from my OB-X8, but i suppose you can use other tools.
Once the file is downloaded, you will need to uncompress it.
At this point you will find several files named after their original locations.
The doubles will go in double group slots from 3 to 8.
The programs will go in the OB-SX bank, from group slots 7 to 16.
