The Beast !
Introduction :
Yes, we had the opportunity to spend a few days with the great Schmidt EightVoice analog synthesizer !
And during these days, we kept concentrating on making a new set of 64 sounds.
The task was not so easy because the EightVoice is such a deep machine, and with 64 sounds to do in a limited time, of course we did not explore all the possible textures that can be provided on this machine...Please note we did read that freaking manual before !
It was a great experience and we focused on providing some fresh and inspiring sounds to complete the onboard presets.
Also our goal was not to make any profit on this soundset but only to share a great and unique programming experience on a great and unique musical instrument. So if you are a lucky owner of a Schmidt EightVoice, feel free to download the file, load it into your keyboard and we hope you will have fun playing with these sounds !

Programming the Schmidt is something we won't forget ! There are so many original parameters, modules and sound design tricks that it would take years to exhaust the sonic range of this beast. But making a deep and complex instrument is one thing, making it with some nice sounding analog circuits is another thing... And i can tell you the team at Schmidt behind this synthesizer did it ! It sounds awesome and very versatile...From warm deep analog sounds to cold fm or hybrid soundscapes, and everything in between, it's a kind of sonic chameleon. It's just how you program it and how much time you spend on it... |

Great deep and original oscillators section, up to 5 filters per voice, snappy enveloppes, full collection of modulations sources and destinations, you have all the tools needed to make all the sounds you have in mind... And if this is not enough, add a huge stereo output signal with a very clean s/n ratio, a strong and top notch construction quality and you are close to what could be the masterpiece of all the analog synthesizers on the market... |

We would like to thanks Eric Inglebert who allow us to do the programming of this set on the machine he was testing for a future article on Audiofanzine website...This experience wouldn't have been possible without his help, so many thanks Eric ! ;-)

64 new sounds ! Coyote14 had the opportunity to spend more times on the EightVoice. He used this time to add to the first set of 64 programs another set of 64 programs. EDGES, now called EDGES AUGMENTED is today a soundbank of 128 programs. Thanks Coyote14 ! |

Once you have downloaded this soundset :
Save your work before !
We recommend to make a backup of the destination bank with a MIDI dump procedure.
To make this operation you have to select the Utility menu, then select 'Send MIDI Dump'
A bargraph follows the progression of the dump operation.

Loading the soundset :
To send the sysex file of 'edge_augmented' in your EightVoice synthesizer :
- Put the instrument in 'Single' mode
- In the Menu Page Single-Global-MIDI 5, put RCV Prg Dump ON
- Send the sysex datas with a dedicated program like MIDI OX on PC / Mac -> a bargraph shows the communication status.
- When done, the EightVoice let you choose the destination bank, that will be erased...
Next step : have fun !
